France’s politicians and community leaders have criticised the “intolerable” violence against Paris’ Jewish community, after a pro-Palestinian rally led to the vandalizing and looting of Jewish businesses and the burning of cars. It is the third time in a week where pro-Palestinian activists have clashed with the city’s Jewish residents. On Sunday, locals reported chats of “Gas the Jews” and “Kill the Jews”, as rioters attacked businesses in the Sarcelles district, known as “little Jerusalem”.
Manuel Valls, France’s primeministersaid: “What happened in Sarcelles is intolerable. An attack on a synagogue and on a kosher shop is simply anti-Semitism. Nothing in France can justify this violence.”
Also from the article —
The government had banned a demonstration planned in Paris for Saturday, but posters were seen around the area which said “Come equipped with hammers, fire extinguishers and batons” and promised a “raid on the Jewish district”.
France has around half a million Jews, the biggest population in Europe, and around five million Muslims.
The Society for the Protection of the Jewish Community’s figures suggest that anti-Jewish violence is seven times higher than in the 1990s, and 40% of racist violence is against Jews, despite them making up just 1% of the population.
In March 2012, a shooting spree by Mohammed Merah in the south of France left three French soldiers, three Jewish schoolchildren and a rabbi dead. The gunman claimed a connection to al Qaeda.
More than a thousand Jews have made aliyah (the term used when Jews immigrate to Israel) in the past 10 days, according to the Israeli government.
"I came because of anti-Semitism,” said teary-eyed Veronique Rivka Buzaglo, one of 430 immigrants who arrived from France the day before.
this happened 2 months ago and i had no idea until today. please reblog this, its so important that people talk about antisemitism and dont just sweep it under the rug
-And I’m Emily.
We make “funny videos” on the Internet.
-But soon, we might not be able to.
…net neutrality is in jeopardy. Net Neutrality is the principle that says ISPs can’t discriminate between different types of traffic.
That means that…
…whether you’re a bedroom music producer, a couple on an amateur porn site, or just someone with a start up idea - you get access to the same users as Netflix, Facebook or Amazon. On the Internet, anyone can succeed.
…America’s ISPs wanna set up a pay-for-play system where rich companies pay extra to get to those users first.
If this happens…
…instead of a wonderful playground if innovation that it is now, the Internet will become like cable TV where you can only get stuff that’s been pre-approved by a bunch of old rich guys.
Ten years from now…
…your Internet bill could be a bigger “fustercluck” than your cable bill.
Now, you might be thinking…
…isn’t the government supposed to protect me from fragrant doucheholery like this?
…the former chairman of the FCC (government agency that’s SUPPOSED to protect you) is now the cable industry’s head lobbyist. And another former cable industry lobbyist is now the CURRENT head of the FCC.
…we can’t trust the FCC to make the right decision on their own. That’s why WE need to protect the Internet we love. The chaotic, AWESOME, often quite weird, place where literally everyone’s voice can be heard.
In a few months…
…the FCC will approve this festering soal of proposal unless we speak up. The Internet is one of the few places where human voices speak louder than money. So while that’s still the case, let’s use those voices. Go to DEARFCC.ORG and tell them to protect Net Neutrality. Thanks for doing your part to protect the Internet.

Having a large follower fan base, I figured that I should inform my followers about Sam Pepper’s latest “shenanigans.” My dashboard has been blowing up about Sam Pepper’s latest video. For those of you who have not seen it, Sam Pepper, a famous Youtuber with 2 million+ subscribers, posted a video of him sexually assaulting a multitude of females as a “prank.” Basically, he pinched girls’ buttocks without their consent. With a fake hand in his sweatshirt and his real hand pinching their bottoms, he assaulted a multitude of young females and brushed his perversions off as a “prank.” The first girl in the video specifically asserted, “I don’t like that” and Sam Pepper laughed. She awkwardly went along; yet, one could see that she was awkward, scared, and uncomfortable.
This video has caused a huge amount of controversy. I do not see what is so controversial; sexual assault is sexual assault. A prank is defined as a joke that is not harmful, nor does it cause either party to feel uncomfortable. His video was not a prank. No, this is not a matter of feminism. This is a matter of sexual assault.
Under the comments, there are several comments from straight white males claiming that the girls “should be glad,” “were asking for it,” etc. For anyone who does not see this video as a problem, what if a similar situation were to happen to you? Targeting straight, white males who do not see this as a problem: A gay, male stranger approaches you. He asks you for directions. As you glance away, you feel a hand on your crotch. You realize, it was the gay stranger. Feel uncomfortable yet? Then, he admits to his little “prank” and laughs it off.
Stop excusing Sam Pepper’s actions. He is using his fame as an excuse to harass girls. Touching someone inappropriately without prior consent is sexual harassment. If you still do not see the issue, you are part of the problem.
